And the superfood of 2016 is...

Every year it's something new, and 2016 is no exception. Let's refresh your memory with some superfoods that have popped up over the years as THE superfood to be eating. We have avocado, kale, quinoa, chia seeds and seaweed, for example. Some of you more in the know, might have even heard of bee pollen being pretty big on the scene in 2015. So, we would expect 2016 to follow with something equally as obscure and slightly unknown to the general public.

But no.

2016 is the year of Black Pudding, yes black pudding that people have been pairing with their English fry up for years.

So, why black pudding?

Well, it contains protein, calcium, potassium and magnesium, plus its high in iron and zinc. As well of a multitude of nutritional properties its also carb free!

Unfortunately, veggies and vegans are excluded from this new superfood, so what does 2016 have in store for you?


Rich in vitamin D and a great way to add flavour to a dish without any of the nasties.


This is similar to a cabbage and very high in Vitamin C. Kohlrabi can be made into soup, fritters or roasted.


A grain similar to quinoa - high in calcium, iron amino acids and protein. The grain is gluten free and can be used in similar to ways we’ve learnt to use quinoa - porridge, veggie burgers, chilis and brownies.

Sweet potato flour

Add natural sweetness and flavour when you’re baking with this gluten free, paleo flour.
